Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull & Ricky Martin Are Festive In Charlotte

The Trilogy Tour featuring Ricky Martin, Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias made their much anticipated stop in Charlotte, NC at the Spectrum Center on Saturday night. The capacity crowd was in for a treat to witness some of the top Latin performers grace the stage.

A constant loop of disco music greeted the spectators as they entered the arena. Forty minutes after the scheduled start of the show, the lights dimmed and a video package played hyping up Ricky Martin. Martin and his numerous backup dancers came out for “Pégate” and then went into “María.”

Martin, while wearing parachute pants, danced all up and down the stage. His shirt quickly became engulfed in sweat. Because of that, Martin switched shirts every few songs.

The brass section and funky guitar riffs were in full force for “Shake Your Bon-Bon.” Martin announced that they were going to take us on a trip to Puerto Rico with “Lola, Lola.” The definitive “She Bangs” really got everyone on their feet.

Martin, while wearing a trench coat, slowed it down with “Vuelve” while there was a sea of cell phone lights illuminating the arena. Martin closed his set with the staples “Livin’ la Vida Loca” and “The Cup of Life.”

After the stage changeover, Pitbull was up next. Pitbull would take us to a nightclub inspired set. “Don’t Stop the Party” got us headed in that direction. The lyrics of “Yeah, yeah, yeah, que no pare la fiesta / Don’t stop the party” were echoed by fans throughout the venue.

Mr. Worldwide” kept the hype train going with “Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor).” T-Pain was featured on the big screen – like all song collaborators were throughout the evening. Pitbull continued with the hits “Hotel Room Service” and “International Love.”

While on the catwalk, Pitbull performed a truncated version of “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho).” “Mr. 305” donned a black cowboy hat for “Timber.” Fireballs shot up from behind the stage for “Fireball.”

Pitbull closed out his set with “Time of Our Lives” and “Give Me Everything.” While saying his goodbyes, Pitbull gave a shout out to his co-owned NASCAR team called Trackhouse Racing which has it’s shop in nearby Concord.

Enrique Iglesias was up last to close out the fun-filled night. Iglesias wasted no time jumping into “Tonight (I’m F**kin’ You)” and “Be With You.” While wearing his signature ball cap, Iglesias would walk to the end of the stage and just take in the crowd’s jubilation.

After “Bailamos,” Iglesias made his way from the end of the runway to the smaller stage situated towards the back of the arena’s floor. The fans in the back immediately erupted when they got a closer glimpse of Iglesias with their own eyes. From that stage, they performed “Cuando Me Enamoro,” “Loco” and “Me Pasé.”

Iglesias made his way back to the main stage for “Súbeme La Radio.” During “Escape,” Iglesias jumped down to the front row of the floor and side of the stage to greet everyone.

The classic “I Like It” included confetti being shot out of cannons. Large balloons also were released from the rafters later on as the show was close to ending.

Iglesias closed the show with “Bailando.” Before walking off of the stage, Iglesias exclaimed, “I f**cking love you Charlotte! Thank you so much.”

The close to sold-out crowd – Pitbull estimated 15,000 were in attendance – were in for a treat from the Latin superstars. Each artist had equal time to showcase their set. It appears they might alternate time slots in each city. This tour is must-see if you are ready to party!
