This CD features real-life couple Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White. They have been married for 33 years and still are going strong. They sing a variety of 13 handpicked country love songs on their newest album “Hearts Like Ours.” It really is hard to believe that they have never recorded a record together until now.

It starts off with the smooth, acoustic guitar driven “I Run To You.” They complement each other perfectly. The tempo picks up with “Love Can’t Ever Get Better Than This” as White takes charge, and Skaggs hops on the groove later on.

The atmosphere turns somber with “When I’m Good And Gone.” The life lessons continue with “Reasons To Hang On” and, somewhat of a companion song, “Hold On Tight.”

The bluegrass sound is mostly avoided until later on in the album with “No Doubt About It.”  Skaggs riffs away on his mandolin while harmonizing with White – they create a great jam session.

The six-minute “Be Kind” closes out the CD. It moves in waves, and the ocean breeze almost is audible in the recording.

It has been worth the wait. Skaggs and White are on their A-game with this record. They sing about all aspects of life, and that’s what makes their duets sound so real. If you like Ricky Skaggs, Sharon White and just general feel good music – then this just for you.
